Emerging Transportation Leaders Program




The application period for the 2017-2018 NCTA Emerging Transportation Leaders Program is now open! Join us for this opportunity to grow your career and meet other ambitious industry professionals. Participants in this program will attend a NCTA Board of Directors meeting, learn more about how the legislative process affects the trucking industry and participate in professional development sessions. By bringing together a diverse group of candidates we hope to represent the various segments, regions and fleet sizes that compose the trucking industry in North Carolina and cultivate the skills of our future leaders.

The program will consist of 4 mandatory and 3 optional meetings throughout the year, kicking off at the NCTA Management Conference July 16-18, 2017 at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC.

Mission: "The NCTA Emerging Transportation Leaders Committee unites young professionals and leaders who believe in the values, contributions and importance of the trucking industry for securing our economic future."

 

Social - To help build industry networking and camaraderie. Primary focus area to Recruit, Retain & Develop members to ensure the future workforce is available and capable of maintaining the growth and continued viability of the trucking industry.

 

Community Service - Recognizing the presence and increased scrutiny of trucks on North Carolina and United States Highways, the committee would provide a unified group and voice to participate in community outreach and advocacy initiatives to enhance the image of trucking for younger generations.

 

Education/Informative - As the trucking industry continues to progress and new individuals across multiple generations enter and exit our industry, knowledge transfer, professional development and succession planning are critical focus areas to ensure superior levels of industry talent and contributions are maintained.

 

 

Meetings and Events

         

 The North Carolina Trucking Association (NCTA) Emerging Transportation Leaders Program brings our industry's future leaders together. Opportunities for networking, professional development and learning more about the NCTA governance and how the legislative process affects the transportation industry will be addressed throughout the year-long program. The program consists of 4 required events and additional optional events. 


1. Annual Management Conference (Board of Directors Meeting, Introductions, Group Meeting/Social-July 24-26, 2016 *required

2. Call on Washington-September 19-21, 2016

3. Board of Directors Meeting – October 26, 2016 Grandover Resort 1000 Club Rd. Greensboro, NC (Mentor discussion after)

4. Community Involvement (TBD) -  November *required

5. Truck Driving Championship (Volunteer) 1st or 2nd Friday and Saturday in May *required

6. Educational- Gold Mine Team Training February 22, 2017 

7. Educational (TBD)

8. NC Legislative Experience – Trucking Day at General Assembly (2017)
